About
This is a seriously useful addition to Facebook pages. As I have mentioned before on a few occasions, Facebook is still mainly a broadcast platform for many brands and page runners. With the introduction of “talking about this” visible on every brand page Facebook demonstrated that it was keen for two-way conversations to commence between fans and brands. It’s always talked about as one of the main reasons social media has become powerful, but Facebook is only now showing that conversations are as valuable as Likes for brand pages.
Brands will continue to measure their success with Likes because it’s simple for them to do so and it doesn’t require the same level of man power or resource in comparison to running a page with the attention to detail that is really needed for two way conversations. In time this will change though as more brands realise they are performing negatively because of a lack of interaction.
The social web (on Facebook at least) is getting more social.
