My brief thoughts on RIM
Fail.
I did say brief…
Ok maybe not that brief! RIM needed a shake up. They aren’t heading forwards. They’ve just stagnated. Getting rid of the two CEO’s was a major step and I hoped they would bring in someone new and fresh. I was wrong. Heins has about as much charisma as a goldfish. If you don’t believe me watch the video. It’s this quote that gets me though;
“I don’t think that there is a drastic change needed. We are evolving our tactics and processes. I don’t feel that I was held back in any way to do what I needed to do.”
Sorry?! Don’t think drastic change is needed?! Android and iOS and kicking your ass. You are being overtaken in the smartphone market. You need to up your game. You need a game changing device. Not the same old Bold just a bit thinner. Someone complained to me earlier about an app on BlackBerry being clunky. It’s not the app my friend, it’s the software on BlackBerry devices! Heins just seems like the same old RIM. A change in words only as far as I can see.
I also just want to point out I’m no BlackBerry hater. My first smartphone was a BlackBerry and I loved it at the time. It worked wonders. I then moved to Android… What I do want though is a competitive market of smartphone manufacturers and software developers. Competition makes the market stronger. So come on BlackBerry, do a Nokia. Make a BIG move.
